Wadi Adventure Race – War 6
The 6th Wadi Adventure Race took place on April 5th. This has been the LARGEST Wadi Adventure Race to date with over 850 competitors participating!
Waking up early to make it on time for the closing season race of War 6 and still arriving late seems to be a habit of mine. Getting lost on the way Rami and I started to panic thinking we might miss the chance of extreme action but luckily we made it to the start line just on time. I had registered in “Group B” while all my friends – Nizar, Mazen, Moustafa, Dani, Rami, Jad, Maha, Dana and Safa- were in “Group A” so I decided to join the big boys and challenge my self. In addition to that the boys were very keen on being in front of my GoPro for the 5min fame on Youtube.. And so they shall!
It all started with lots of cheers and shout out of enthusiasm. That is when all the action began!
The race started off with approx a 500m run towards the first obstacle of ropes being placed across the track randomly at different heights for competitors to pass through. Afterwords, competitors faced their favorite obstacle (NOT) awkwardly carrying sandbags of weights 20kg for men and 10kg for women (I believe it was more than that!) for a distance of 1.5km. The remaining 7km included climbing a series of walls that were 1-1.5m high, walking upstream of the rafting river, sliding down a ramp (I am sure that was everyone favorite part!), jumping across the back of floating rafts, running through drain tunnels, crawling under barb wire fencing, walking over a balance beam, pulling a tire with extra weight, flipping a tire, carrying a couple of bricks for 1km, swinging on monkey bars and, finally, swimming through the facility wave pool before climbing the infamous 3m WALL that was the only thing left standing between the competitors and the finish line.a 3m high wall that sat right in front of the finish line. And I must shout out a big thank you to the fine gentlemen who finished the race and went back to help competitors climb the Great Wall Of Wadi Adventure all the way to the end. That is the true spirit of Wadi Adventure Race, ultimate test of fitness, willpower, persistence, and camaraderie. Well done everyone!
In short here is the walk through of obstacles in pictures:
It was a great race full of challenges and fun time as well. It was personally a special race to me. Along the race competitors had recognized me from my earlier video of War 5 (apparently my beard is a trademark as well) and was happy to be appreciated for the good job I had done. I hope you all enjoy War 6 video as well in hopes it brings a 5min fame to all those featured and great memories to all who participated 🙂
